Teacher, Brian Shriner from The Geneva School Arrested for sex solicitation from Teen.
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -
Brian Gerald Shriner is a respected teacher at The Geneva School, an upscale Christian school in Seminole County, where he teaches Greek, English, and other subjects. He’s also an ordained Episcopal priest But Friday, the 46-year-old man was arrested by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office when deputies said Shriner exchanged emails over a period of weeks to have sex with a teen.
However, the computer teen was actually an undercover deputy.
When arrested, Shriner told Orange County Sheriff’s detectives that he assisted at a church in Winter Springs.
The church’s pastor told WESH 2 News that Shriner is not a church employee, but does attend the church and assists the church. The church is not a member of the local Episcopal diocese.
Joe Thoma, the spokesman for the Episcopal Diocese of Central Florida, told WESH 2 News that Shriner is ordained, but he is not employed by the diocese, and does not have district authority to serve as a priest here.
So far, WESH 2 News has not been able to obtain a response from The Geneva School, which is on Semoran Boulevard, less than a mile north of Aloma Avenue.
OCSO officials said they are concerned that there may be more victims, and are asking if anyone knows of anyone who may be a victim of Brian Gerald Shriner to contact the agency, or call Crimeline.
The arrest was announced after 10 p.m. Friday in a news release. The Sheriff’s Office took an unusual step, issuing a public records exemption of the arrest, which prohibited the release of Shriner’s booking photo and details of his arrest.

You cant blame the school and church for this man, it was his mistake, not anyone else. I currently attend this school, and its a wonderful school and i could never see this man doing this., as I knew him. And our school has responded, so before u start making things up, read the facts. i am not defending this man, i am disgusted. but i am defending the church and my school, the school is great and teaches how we should live our lives on this earth… this guy apparently didn’t get the memo. Ii forgive him though, as God has forgiving u guys. Jesus says how he is supposed to forgive u of ur sins, if u haven’t forgive others? so i would forgive him, because that will b one sorry day on judgment day when God wont forgive u and will not have mercy.
that’s where we disagree. To me, a teen is still a child. They do know the difference between right and wrong. It’s impossible to not see them as kids.13-17 are kids and the reason that I didn’t include 18 is because thats the legal consenting age in Florida. Its kinda gross when a man chooses to victimize those who are too young to understand the psychological aspects of the relationship. I admit that the law is flawed because some states have an earlier time in which a teenager can consent.
I am concerned though with you Michelle. Seriously, it’s the cops fault? So they are drawing him out. Trust me, No one can draw someone out who doesn’t want to be.
A 14 year-old is not a “kid.” We’re not talking about a 4 year-old here. And who knows what sort of fake pics the cops sent and what they said to him in the emails. My guess is that in the pics she (the fake girl) looked very well developed, very provocative, and that the language of her emails matched all of that.
I think it’s despicable that the police go around tempting people to commit crimes like this. They are preying on people’s vulnerabilities. Given that there is no indication that guy had ever in the past hooked up with a minor, he probably never would have had it not been for the cops drawing him in.

So then it’s Horny? People get horny all the time, and that doesn’t mean that they go around trying to sleep with kids. This story would not have had any interest if he wasn’t trying to sleep with a teen. So let’s not forget that fact. So we have a problem with a man whose a pedophile or potential one? Once again, WHY is he interested in children sexually? That is abnormal thinking behavior.
I had Brian as a teacher for several years and I attended Geneva all my life. This has nothing to do with the fact that he was a priest or a teacher. Men in general are “horny as shit”. Anyone is capable of anything. Married, divorced, single or what have you. This still hasn’t sunken in with me since I knew him so well and it really disturbs me seeing as how he has 4 daughters. One of which being the same age as the girl he thought he was going to me. Itt just goes to show that no matter how long you’ve known someone, people will always surprise you.
